Erika Matthews is an aspiring ballerina whose mother Deborah has recently divorced her father Jason, whom Deborah accused of infidelity. When Reed Halton becomes Erika's new ballet coach, Deborah sees an opportunity to go on with her life and begins dating the widower. But her excitement about the new relationship is soon tempered by the disturbing awareness that Reed is taking more than a normal interest in her daughter and is showing signs that he is obsessed with the girl.
